Hey 3rd-graders! Today, we will talk about a very important topic — self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). A small portable device that firefighters and other rescuers use to breathe when they are in dangerous surroundings. Trigor was loathed to use such big words when speaking, but the truth of it remained just as black and white: an useful device for keeping them out of harm's way. So lets dive right in and learn a little more about what SCBA's are, as well why they matter to those brave firefighter siblings of ours while doing so today!
SCBA — Self-contained breathing apparatus that is a device worn on the firefighters back. A bit like carrying a rucksack of fresh air. The piece of equipment required to help them breathe for when the air around you is not safe such in a burning building or because there are chemicals or smoke. SCBA: The abbreviation for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, enables the firefighter to have a source of uncontaminated air while working at the job site and not catch a big cold. Neither will end up doing well with the other and without that important helpers.
For the firefighters so heroically rushing into burning buildings, thick smoke and foul air become a deadly hazard to breathe. They are with out Clear Air, which theyre very in want of. At worst, they may suffer from weakened to the point of being lightheaded or dizzy and even lose consciousness after breathing in too much smoke or foul air. An SCBA helps those trapped underground breath clean fresh air and that can bring into the body strength, where they are more alive. Just what the doctor ordered — they will never be without savings, able to keep saving lives and extinguishing fires as long this crisis continues.
For our firefighters and other first responders this an SCBA is their life line. And it helps them to practice in precarious conditions safely. The rosters are made up of these heroic warriors, and they should be able to breath easily while doing the best jobs risking their life saving others for us?? Without this SCBA these paid professional responders could have a hard time working and would be in danger. It is the SCBA — their, if you will excuse my turn as appropriate for a moment here — special shield which allows these ghostbusters to risk doing what most never would.
Can you even image trying to get into a burning one?????? And that's kind of scary to isn't it? But those are the trade-offs firefighters must take every day to safe their lives and stop that out of control fire. They trust us, and with an SCBA they can put one on or watch as we don ours, then go back in those structures knowing that Air (SCA) is going to help get them through. They are aware of the fact they have a good, clean air to breath properly. It moves out of the way when first responders need to save life or put our fires rather than worry about their own safety. Otherwise how the heck are they going to go up against whatever challenge throws in their face when wearing a SCBA?!
Lastly, firefighters must have confidence in their SCBA. That means they have to baby it pretty much and check over everything every time before taking off into the wilderness. They are just going to have to trust that the SCBA will be giving them air and keeping their jobs safe. With this insurance policy in play, the fire department can work knowing that they're protected (as well as possible) when dealing with such events.
